Fiona’s Arrival (Oisín McAuley), O’Connell’s trip to Parliament (trad.).
Our fiddle player Oisín composed the jig at the start of this set, it is named af- ter his daughter. “O’Connell’s trip to Parliament” is in reference to “The Great Liberator” Daniel O’Connell’s election to the British parliament by a huge majority in 1828, which forced Britain to lift its bar on Catholic MPs and led to the Act of Catholic Emancipation a year later.
